Just In: Lucky Aiyedatiwa Officially Sworn in as New Governor of Ondo State

Following the passing away of the former governor, Akerelodu,  Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has officially become the governor of Ondo State. The Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Olusegun Odusola, conducted the swearing-in ceremony at the governor’s office in Akure, starting at 4:15 p.m.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, as reported, including the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, members of the assembly, the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, and the state chairman of the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC), Ade Adetimehin. Additionally, various members of the executive council, political office holders, and party members were also present at the swearing-in. 

During his address, Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the former Governor Akeredolu, describing it as an immense loss to the people of Ondo State and Nigeria as a whole. He extended his condolences to Governor Akeredolu’s family, the traditional ruler of Owo, and the citizens of the state.

Governor Aiyedatiwa highlighted Governor Akeredolu’s significant contribution to the establishment of Amotekun, a security initiative that has notably reduced banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities in the South West region. He pledged to continue ongoing projects initiated by Akeredolu, emphasizing Akeredolu’s remarkable track record in governance.

Aiyedatiwa assured the people of Ondo State of his commitment to sustaining developmental projects and maintaining peace and security throughout his tenure as governor.
