After two years in Atlanta, USA, the Headies Awards, Nigeria’s biggest music awards, will return home for its 17th edition on April 5, 2025.

The award ceremony honours achievements in the Nigerian music industry and moves to the United States in 2022, where both the 2022 and 2023 editions were held. However, organisers have now confirmed its return to Nigeria

Headies Executive Producer Ayo Animashaun announced an unveiling event on January 28. He also revealed that the 18th edition, recognising music from 2025, is scheduled for December 2025.

The nominee list for the upcoming 17th edition will be released on February 12, 2024.

According to Animashaun, the 17th edition was initially planned for 2024 but was postponed for some reason. He emphasised that the Headies follows an annual calendar, which the Academy intends to maintain, hence the decision to hold two editions in 2025.
