Shaboozey’s hit song “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” has made history by becoming the longest-reigning No. 1 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100. The song secured its 20th week in the top spot, surpassing the previous record of 19 weeks set by Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus in 2019.

Released in May 2024, “A Bar Song” first reached No. 1 on the chart during the week of May 11 and has remained a dominant force, spending 26 weeks on the chart. This achievement marks the first time a song has held the No. 1 position for 20 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 since its inception in 2007.

Shaboozey, born Collins Obinna Chibueze, has been in the music industry for a decade but saw his breakthrough this year after his appearance on Beyoncé’s hit album Cowboy Carter. Together, they made history as the first Black artists to consecutively top the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart with “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”

In addition to breaking records, Shaboozey has been nominated for Single of the Year and New Artist of the Year at the upcoming Country Music Awards, highlighting his rising influence in the country music scene. Despite Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter not receiving nominations, Shaboozey credited her impact on the genre’s evolution.
