Russian President Vladimir Putin announced his plans to visit China in May on Thursday.

He revealed this during the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Congress in Moscow.

While Putin did not specify the exact date, this visit marks his first international trip after being re-elected as Russia’s president, extending his rule by six more years.

The announcement comes amid Russia’s deepening economic ties with China due to its international isolation from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Putin, who was re-elected in March, is scheduled for presidential inauguration on May 7.

China, which has maintained a neutral stance in the Ukraine conflict, has denied providing military support to Russia despite Western‏ accusations. Beijing has also attempted to mediate with a peace proposal, which has been largely rejected by Ukraine and its allies.
