882

The Nigerian Correctional Service, Ogun State Command has raised an alarm about the escape of some inmates from the facility in Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of the State. This information was made public by the PRO of the Ogun State Command, Victor Oyeleke.

According to him, the incident took place at 3:00 am on Saturday, 24th December 2023. The escapees allegedly scaled the fence and ran.  He said “Yes, it is confirmed it happened in the early hours on Saturday, around 3:00 am.  A search party to bring the three of them back has been raised. We have their biometrics and we have the contacts of their families. We are working together with other sister agencies and in good time, they will be brought back.”

The Ijebu Mushin Area Command of the So-Safe Corps also put out a statement to confirm the incident. The Statement said “The report reaching us now is that three prisoners escaped from the Ijebu-Ode Correctional Centre whose names are: Hammed Adeboyejo who was convicted of murder/armed robbery; Fatai Taiwo Akande from Ijebu-Igbo was sentenced on murder case while the third man, Oguntana Aliu was convicted of sexual offense. Should in case you see any of them, quickly contact the office of So-Safe Corps Command closer to you, Nigerian Police, and any other security agency.”

Members of the public are therefore advised to be alert during this festive period and beyond until the criminals are apprehended (hopefully).

The Agencies involved should also release the pictures of the escapees to the public to ensure proper identification and prevent unsuspecting Nigerians from falling victim to the criminals
