Daniel Bwala, the spokesman of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Council, has declared that he may defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to support the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Responding to a reporter’s inquiry on Wednesday evening about whether he was considering joining the APC following a private meeting with President Tinubu at the State House in Abuja, Bwala stated: “APC is a party. President Bola Tinubu is my motivation; if supporting him will take me to APC, so be it.

“I told him today, I am committing to play my part to support your administration, and I have no apologies to anybody.”

He commended the President’s decision to suspend Dr. Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, saying, “some of his Ministers that were allegedly reported to have committed infractions, instead of protecting them, he asked that the law should have its course and suspended somebody without wasting time. That, to me, is impressive because it’s about the people.”

Commenting on Tuesday’s announcement of a 60 percent reduction in travel entourages for the Presidency and MDAs, Bwala said, “There has been this outcry that the government is bloated. Yesterday, he introduced a policy that reduced the cost of governance, and today, he told me it is just the beginning.”

He also mentioned that the President reassured him about additional cost-cutting initiatives in progress to bring down the overall cost of governance further.

Remember, Bwala used to be an ardent critic of the APC and Tinubu government and had said on January 2, 2024, that opposition political parties must form a strong coalition if they would successfully wrestle power from the governing APC in the 2027 general elections.

Now, on January 10, 2024, the spokesman of the PDP is considering defecting to APC after a private meeting with the President.
