Oside Oluwole Shatters Guinness World Record With 75-Hour Video Game Marathon

136

Oside Oluwole “Khoded” has been recognised by Guinness World Records for achieving the longest video game marathon, playing continuously for an astounding 75 hours. This remarkable feat saw the 24-year-old from Ijebu-Ode surpass the previous record of 50 hours set by Englishman David Whitefoot in 2022.

Oluwole’s marathon, during which he played a soccer video game and completed over 500 games, was not just a personal challenge but also a charitable endeavour to raise funds for a local hospital. His determination and endurance significantly exceeded records, setting a new benchmark in the gaming community.

In an official statement, Guinness World Records highlighted Oluwole’s achievement, stating,

No one in the past has broken this record by such a large margin as Oside has. It was first set in 2010 with a time of 24 hours and gradually increased to 50 hours after being beaten seven times in 11 years.

The accomplishment has garnered widespread acclaim, including from Hon. Seun Adesanya, a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly. In a press release, Adesanya praised Oluwole’s dedication and the countless hours of practice that led to his success, describing it as an inspiration to all aspiring gamers and a testament to the unyielding spirit of determination that drives the nation.

Oluwole drew inspiration from Chef Hilda Baci, whose record-breaking cook-a-thon last year captivated Nigeria. His achievement not only places him in the global spotlight but also underscores the growing influence and potential of the Nigerian youth in various fields.

Oluwole’s record-setting marathon is a source of pride for his hometown and the nation, showcasing the extraordinary lengths individuals can go to achieve greatness and contribute to their communities.
