The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that it will begin a two-day medical screening for prospective Muslim pilgrims for the year 2024, scheduled to take place between March 5th and 7th.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Salau Dauda, issued a statement announcing that the screening will take place at the board’s office situated at New Secretariat Block ‘B’, Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta. Dauda emphasized the importance of intending pilgrims availing themselves for medical examination.

The purpose of the medical tests is to evaluate the health condition of each pilgrim, ensuring they receive necessary medical guidance before embarking on the sacred journey to Mecca and Medina.

Dauda stressed that it was mandatory for all intending pilgrims to attend this medical screening and also the sensitisation and enlightenment programmes scheduled for Saturday, March 9, by 9:30 a.m. at the board’s premises.

“Participation of eligible pilgrims in this exercise is compulsory and an integral part of the pilgrimage,’” he said.
Hajj in Islam is a pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which every adult Muslim make at least once in their lifetime.
The hajj is incumbent on all Muslims who are physically and financially able to make the pilgrimage, but only if their absence will not place hardships on their family.
