The Niger Armed Forces neutralised 14 terrorists who attempted to steal cattle in Sabongari-Takoussa, located in the Tillabéry region in the west of the country, the army said in its information bulletin released Wednesday.

The incident, which took place on Tuesday, also resulted in the death of a civilian.

Niger authorities praised the locals for their resilience and courage in facing ongoing threats.

The Tillabéry region, which shares a border with Mali and Burkina Faso, has been a hotspot for insecurity due to the presence of jihadist groups in the area.
