Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has discharged Bello Bodejo, the leader of Miyetti Allah Kautal Kore, from an alleged terrorism charge filed by the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF).
The discharge followed an oral application by Aderonke Imana, counsel for the AGF, to withdraw the three-count charge.
During the resumed hearing on Wednesday, Imana cited Section 108 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015 and Section 174 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) as the basis for the withdrawal, stating that the AGF had directed the withdrawal in the interest of justice.
Bodejo’s counsel did not oppose the application and expressed gratitude to the AGF. Lead counsel Ahmed Raji then urged the court to discharge Bodejo under the cited sections.
