Pep Guardiola has been honoured with the 2023/24 Barclays Manager of the Season award following a remarkable campaign with Manchester City, marking his fifth time receiving the prestigious award.

This season, Guardiola’s team made history by becoming the first side to secure four consecutive Premier League titles.

In a display of sportsmanship and humility, Guardiola expressed his desire to share the award with his fellow nominees, acknowledging their contributions to making the season highly competitive.

I want to share it, yes, oh yes! Especially with Mikel [Arteta] for his incredible job until the last game, bringing us to our limits, Guardiola remarked.

He also praised Jurgen Klopp for their unforgettable battles, Unai Emery for leading Aston Villa to the UEFA Champions League, and Andoni Iraola for his impressive first season with Bournemouth.

Guardiola’s latest triumph brings his total to five Manager of the Season awards, having previously won in 2017/18, 2018/19, 2020/21, and 2022/23.

Only Sir Alex Ferguson has more awards, with 11 to his name. Other multiple award winners include Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger, both with three, and Jurgen Klopp with two.

This season’s award was decided by combining public votes with those of a panel of football experts.

Guardiola topped a five-person shortlist that included Arteta, Emery, Iraola, and Klopp.

Also, Phil Foden was named the EA SPORTS Player of the Season, making it a double victory for Manchester City in 2023/24.

Guardiola and his team now look to complete their campaign on a high note by aiming for a Premier League and FA Cup double, with a final against Manchester United looming on Saturday.
