The President of the Transition Government, General Assimi GOÏTA, held a meeting with a Russian delegation on Monday.

The discussions, attended by key ministers from various sectors, focused on enhancing cooperation in textiles and hydrocarbons, as reported by Malijet.

Irek SALIKHOV, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Yadran group, addressed the press following the meeting, revealing that preliminary agreements have been established to guide this partnership.

Key projects discussed include the construction of a gold refinery, the supply of petroleum products, and the establishment of a cotton processing plant.

The meeting served to delve into the technical details of these initiatives, with the expectation of finalising agreements soon.

SALIKHOV expressed satisfaction with the discussions, praising GOÏTA’s openness and commitment to supporting the proposed initiatives. A group of technical experts is anticipated to arrive shortly to initiate project implementation.

In a similar effort to cooperation, the Malian government held an advance discussion to boost its healthcare infrastructure with a new hospital, including a radiotherapy centre for cancer treatment, following successful talks between Malian and Chinese officials.

Recall that the Transitional Government also recently announced the total takeover of the Yatela gold mine from foreign companies, AngloGold and IAMGOLD.

The Yatela gold mine, which began operation in 2001, was 80 per cent owned by the Sadiola Exploration Company Limited, a joint venture in which AngloGold Ashanti and IAMGOLD each had a holding of 40 per cent, while the Government of Mali owned the remaining 20 per cent.
