A newly appointed Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Agbarho, Delta State, along with several officers, were reportedly ambushed and killed by a group of kidnappers.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred around 1 a.m. on Monday, just two days after the DPO, identified as CSP Jega, took over the division’s command.

According to sources quoted by PUNCH, the attack took place during a joint operation led by CSP Jega and the DPO of Orerokpe division, CSP Paul, who were on a mission to rescue kidnap victims.

As they approached a location near the Agbarho rail station, the officers were reportedly met with heavy gunfire from the suspected kidnappers.
