Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, held a meeting with stakeholders from the seven troubled local government areas in the state to discuss security issues.

The areas include Kajuru, Birnin-Gwari, Kachia, Kagarko, Igabi, Chikun, and Giwa.

Recently, terrorists abducted at least 287 schoolchildren from two schools in Kuriga, Chikun LGA, while another 87 were kidnapped in Kajuru LGA.

The meeting, held on Wednesday at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna, involved heads of security agencies, community leaders, traditional rulers, the seven local government chairmen, and state assembly members from affected communities.

During the meeting, Governor Sani assured parents from the Kuriga community that efforts were underway to bring back the 287 abducted schoolchildren safely.

He mentioned ongoing collaboration between local communities and security agencies to address insecurity.

He also emphasised the importance of intelligence sharing and community involvement in tackling security challenges, saying:

“We are here this afternoon to have a very important meeting, which should be more interactive between the Kaduna State Government and the head of security agencies in Kaduna, as well as members of the state Assembly from the seven Local Government Areas that were affected by an unfortunate incident of insecurity in the last few weeks. With us here also are our highly respected traditional rulers from the seven Local Government Areas.

“Some of the local government areas are also here with us. The essence of this meeting is to look at our efforts towards intelligence sharing and gathering because we believe that security issues are everyone’s concern, particularly those at the grassroots levels. Here, we have traditional rulers who represent our people at the grassroots level.

The Governor also mentioned his discussions with President Bola Tinubu and security officials to ensure the safe return of the abducted children.
