A clash happened in the Ile-Epo area of Lagos State. The incident, which commenced Wednesday night and extended into Thursday morning, witnessed a violent confrontation resulting in injuries and property damage.
Reports indicate that the conflict originated within the market area, escalating the violence overnight.
Hoodlums, reportedly obstructing police intervention, perpetuated the violence, setting shops ablaze and causing destruction to property.
In response to the escalating situation, law enforcement authorities, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Oke-Odo, intervened.
Over fifty suspects associated with the clashes were apprehended, and their makeshift settlements were demolished, effectively dispersing them from their illicit activities.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade, has directed the prompt prosecution of the arrested hoodlums and has equally warned that the Command would decisively deal with anyone found breaching the peace by the law,” stated SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer.
The police action shed light on the prevalence of criminal activities in the area, particularly highlighting concerns regarding drug-related issues.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations), Area Commander Alagbado, reinforced by other Divisional Police Officers under the Area Command, remained vigilant to prevent further outbreaks of lawlessness.
