Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina has accepted and officially confirmed her participation in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant. The decision follows an invitation from the event’s organisers, Silverbird Group after she withdrew from the Miss South Africa competition amid controversy over her Nigerian heritage.

Adetshina, who will now represent Taraba State in the competition, expressed her gratitude and enthusiasm in a video released today. In the video, she thanked Silverbird Group for the opportunity and shared her excitement about the journey ahead.

I have received an invitation from the SilverBird Group, who are the organisers of the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, and I say this with great excitement because I have decided to accept the invitation, she said.

Her entry into Miss Universe Nigeria marks a turning point in her pageantry career, which recently faced turbulence when she withdrew as a finalist in the Miss South Africa pageant. Public debates over her eligibility spurred the withdrawal due to her Nigerian roots, which sparked widespread discussion in the beauty community.

As preparations for the pageant intensify, Adetshina’s supporters eagerly anticipate her performance, hoping she will significantly impact one of Africa’s most esteemed beauty contests. The Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 competition is expected to draw attention from across the continent, with Adetshina’s participation being a highlight.
