Burkina Faso: Eleven Convicted, Six Acquitted In Terrorism Case

A court in Burkina Faso’s Judicial Unit, specialised in terrorist offences and located at Ouaga II, has sentenced eleven individuals to prison terms ranging from seven to 21 years.

They were fined between 2,000,000 ($3,300) and 5,000,000 ($8,300) CFA francs.

The convicted persons were charged with offences including participation in terrorist groups, financing terrorism, illegal possession of firearms, destruction of property for terrorist purposes, and recruitment for terrorism.

Six others were acquitted during the trial.
