Kenyan President William Ruto has dismissed his cabinet members, retaining only the Deputy President and the Prime Cabinet Secretary.
This decision followed weeks of intense protests across the country over the proposed Finance Bill, which had faced significant criticism from Kenyans and its subsequent withdrawal by the president.
Kenyan protesters stormed the Senate chambers inside the Parliament building, voicing their vehement opposition to the proposed Finance Bill 2024.
Recall the protest turned deadly, leaving some protesters dead.
The announcement during a press conference today marked a significant turn in President Ruto’s administration.
“After reflection, listening to Kenyans, and after a holistic appraisal of my cabinet, I have decided to make this change,” Ruto stated.
