Legendary musician Angélique Kidjo has submitted her single “Joy,” featuring Nigerian artist Davido, for consideration in the prestigious Record of the Year category at the 67th Grammy Awards. The event is set to take place on February 2, 2025, in Los Angeles, and submissions for nominations are currently underway.
Kidjo, a five-time Grammy Award winner, also entered “Joy” in the Best African Music Performance category. She also submitted another track, “Sunlight to My Soul,” which features the Soweto Gospel Choir and was written by Diane Warren for Best Global Music Performance and Song of the Year.
This collaboration marks the second time Kidjo and Davido have worked together, following their previous hit, “Na Money,” in 2023.
Other Nigerian artists, including Rema, Asake, Arya Starr, and Tems, have also submitted their projects for Grammy consideration, positioning Nigerian music firmly on the global stage.
