Grammy-winning music icon Angelique Kidjo has announced a new collaboration with Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido, “Joy.” The highly anticipated single is set to drop on Friday, August 30, 2024, which coincides with the Grammy entry deadline for this year.

Kidjo took to X on August 26, 2024, to share the collaboration news, expressing her excitement about the project. “This song, JOY, is who I am! Coming out this Friday, thank you, @davido, for bringing your LIGHT! No one could have done it better. We hope this song can bring the world together for a moment of JOY!” she posted.

Davido, who has yet to secure a Grammy win, confirmed the collaboration with Kidjo on X, calling it an honour to work with the legendary Béninois singer. The Nigerian star, known for his global hits, made his first Grammy mark in 2023 with nominations for Best Global Album for ‘Timeless,’ Best Global Song Performance for ‘Feel,’ and Best African Song Performance for ‘Unavailable’ featuring Musa Keys.
