Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had earlier suspended the Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), Halima Shehu, following ongoing investigations into alleged corruption within the agency.

The suspension extended beyond an individual, as President Tinubu took another action by suspending all four programs administered by NSIPA for an initial period of six weeks.

These programs include the N-Power Programme, Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, and the Home Grown School Feeding Programme.

The announcement was made through a statement released on Friday by Segun Imohiosen, the Director of Information for the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The statement highlighted President Tinubu’s concerns about operational lapses and improprieties in the disbursement of payments to the program’s beneficiaries.

To address the situation, President Tinubu established a ministerial panel tasked with conducting a comprehensive review of NSIPA’s operations and proposing necessary reforms. The suspension encompasses all NSIPA-related activities, including distributions, events, payments, collaborations, and registrations.

President Tinubu reassured stakeholders and the Nigerian public of his administration’s commitment to a swift and unbiased process. The goal is to ensure that, moving forward, social intervention programs will operate precisely as intended, benefiting the most vulnerable segments of the Nigerian population.
