President Bola Tinubu has approved a fresh round of federal road projects, according to Minister of Works David Umahi, as the administration continues to expand its infrastructure programme.
The latest approvals include the reconstruction of key highways in Niger State covering more than 300 kilometres, as well as the extension of the Bodo Bonny Road to connect with the East West Road corridor in Rivers State. Officials say the projects will be built using reinforced concrete pavement designed for durability and long term performance.
The Tinubu administration has consistently emphasised infrastructure as a central pillar of economic development, with projects announced across multiple geopolitical zones. The Lagos Calabar Coastal Highway remains one of the most prominent and ambitious undertakings, projected to span about 700 kilometres once completed.

Government officials argue that expanding and rehabilitating federal highways will improve trade logistics, reduce travel time and stimulate economic activity in underserved regions.
As with previous large scale projects, attention now shifts to timelines, funding releases and on ground execution. The administration maintains that phased construction and strategic financing models are in place to ensure steady progress across approved corridors.
Infrastructure delivery remains a key benchmark by which the government’s economic agenda will be measured in the coming years.
