Abdourahamane Tiani, Niger’s head of state, is on an official visit to Algeria as part of efforts to repair diplomatic relations and deepen cooperation between the two countries.
The trip comes after a period of strained ties and signals Niamey’s intention to rebuild partnerships across the region. Officials say the visit is aimed at strengthening political and economic cooperation and reviving strategic projects, including the long-discussed trans-Saharan gas pipeline.
Security is also high on the agenda, with both countries expected to explore ways to intensify joint efforts against terrorism and cross-border insecurity in the Sahel.
Beyond the immediate agreements, the visit is seen as a sign of Niger’s broader attempt to reduce diplomatic isolation and diversify its strategic alliances following recent political shifts.
