The Nigerian Green Falcons have defeated Ireland in a 10-0 thrashing in their first semi-final at the Women’s Rugby League World Series in Canada in their first-ever appearance.
Tries from Fedelia Omoghan and Rachel Iliya, covered creatively by Shondell Akhabue, sealed the commanding win for Nigeria, who will now battle Fiji in a bid to sustain their winning streak. “This victory is more than a win, it’s a statement. These women have made history for Nigeria and Africa, proving that we belong on the world stage,” Okeke Chika, Head of PR and Marketing, Nigeria Rugby League Association, said.
The Green Falcons have displayed exceptional sportsmanship, talent, and teamwork, elevating the country’s reputation in international rugby. The winner of the upcoming encounter will secure a spot in the Rugby League World Cup in Australia next year, 2026.
