Malian Army Repels Terrorist Attack Along National Road 6

724

The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) successfully repelled a terrorist attack on Friday, November 1, 2024, along National Road 6 between Sévaré and San. The attack occurred around 10 a.m. when armed assailants on motorcycles targeted a military convoy between Yagara and Téné.

The FAMa’s swift response forced the attackers to retreat into a forest southeast of Fangasso. They pursued the fleeing assailants and deployed air support to strike the group’s position accurately. The convoy resumed its mission in the afternoon while an additional unit conducted a clean-up operation later.

This successful operation was reported on the national media channel by the General Staff of the Armed Forces. The authorities praised the professionalism of the soldiers and assured the public that neutralising terrorist threats remains a top priority.

Earlier in October, the FAMa neutralised a logistics truck and two high-profile terrorists in the Timbuktu region during airstrikes on October 22. The operation eliminated Mohamed Ould Labbat, a logistics leader, and Abdul Latif Al-Insari, a key operations head in the Zouera sector.

These operations follow the Malian army’s ongoing efforts to secure the nation and fight terrorism.
