Shaboozey Thanks Beyoncé After Securing Two CMA Nominations

436

Shaboozey, a rising star in the country music scene, expressed his gratitude to Beyoncé after receiving two nominations for the Country Music Association (CMA) awards. Despite Beyoncé not earning any nominations for her chart-topping album Cowboy Carter, which featured Shaboozey, the artist took to X to acknowledge her impact on the genre.

“Thank you, @Beyonce, for opening a door for us, starting a conversation, and giving us one of the most innovative country albums of all time!” Shaboozey wrote in his post.

Shaboozey, born Collins Obinna Chibueze, was nominated for Single of the Year for his song “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and New Artist of the Year. Reflecting on his journey, he shared on X that he wrote a song about winning a CMA in 2016 and now finds himself nominated for two awards. He congratulated the other nominees, calling the honour “an understatement.”

The artist’s stage name, Shaboozey, stems from mispronunciations of his Igbo surname, Chibueze, which translates to “God is king.”
