The Edo State Government has postponed the reopening of all schools indefinitely due to the recent fuel price hike.
This decision was announced in a memo from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Ojo Akin-Longe, in Benin City on Saturday.
Schools were initially set to resume on September 9, 2024, but this has now been delayed.
The government explained that the postponement was due to the challenges faced by parents and guardians following the fuel price increase. The government also urged parents, guardians, and caregivers to monitor their children and wards during this period closely.
