Terrorists suspected to be members of Boko Haram/ISWAP have killed at least four farmers in Kerawa, a border community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday between 12 and 1 pm while the farmers were working on their farms.

The counsellor of Jimini ward, Bukar Aji and the chairman of Kerawa Community Association, Yakubu Ali, confirmed the incident.

“This is a devastating blow to our community,” Aji said. “We urge the security agencies to take immediate action to ensure the safety of our people.”

Ali also condemned the attack, describing it as “barbaric”. He urged the government to take decisive action to end the insurgency, stating, “The government must do more to protect our communities from these terrorists. We cannot continue to live in fear of attacks every day.”

This attack follows an incident two months ago where multiple explosions killed over 30 people in Gwoza town. It is the latest in a series of gruesome attacks on rural communities in the state, which has been plagued by insurgency for over a decade.
