The Presidency of Burkina Faso has cautioned the public against fake statements being circulated on social media, falsely attributed to the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
In a press release published Tuesday, the Communications Directorate of the Presidency urged citizens, friends and partners of Burkina Faso to verify the authenticity of any statements from Capt. Traoré by consulting official channels.
Describing the false allegations on the head of state as “tendentious and malicious practices,” the Communications Directorate warned that the presidency might take legal action against those who create and spread these false statements.
The directorate further urged Burkinabès and Internet users to be “more vigilant and to always refer to the official channels of the Presidency of Faso.”
