Corps Members Injured As NYSC Hostel Wall Collapses In Ekiti

397

Several corps members were injured on Friday when the bathroom wall of a female hostel at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Ise-Emure, Ekiti State, collapsed.

The incident occurred as the corps members were preparing to take their baths. They were immediately rushed to the camp clinic for medical treatment.

The NYSC management, in a statement on social media, claimed that the situation was under control. An official from NYSC, who spoke anonymously, confirmed that only two corps members were affected and are now recuperating.

Eyewitnesses reported that male corps members helped rescue the injured from the rubble. The NYSC leadership in Ekiti State has reportedly requested renovations for the dilapidated hostels in the past, but these calls have yet to be addressed.

Despite the incident, officials urged parents and guardians not to panic as the injuries were not severe. The corps members are currently participating in the mandatory three-week orientation program.
