Sir Jarus Charged To Court For Assaulting Wife

The Lagos State government, through the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), has charged online influencer Suraj Oyewale, known as Sir Jarus, for allegedly assaulting his wife.

Last week, West Africa Weekly reported that Sir Jarus, the CEO of Jarus Homes and Travels, admitted on X to physically abusing his wife to force her to accept his decision to take a second wife. The DSVA, which became aware of the case, stated that it takes domestic violence allegations very seriously and would investigate.

On Wednesday, the DSVA updated that Sir Jarus was in police custody and that investigations were ongoing.

On Thursday, the agency announced on its X page that Sir Jarus had been charged in court with two counts: assault and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. He was arraigned before Ogba Magistrate Court 5.

The statement read: “Surajudeen Oyetunji Oyewole (@SirJarus) has been charged to Court, (Court 5, Ogba Magistrate Court) on two counts.

“Count l: Assault against his wife.

“Count ll: Conduct Likely to Cause Breach of Peace,” the agency said.
