Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) reportedly invaded Annex and Regional hotels in Isashi, Ojo, Lagos, early this morning, allegedly broke into rooms, assaulted guests and workers, and stole ATM cards, money, and phones.

Reports revealed that the officers shot sporadically at guests, injuring innocent customers and arresting numerous individuals. The video footage shared by users on X, formerly Twitter, showed the bizarre scene.

In response to the allegations, Chairman of the EFCC, Mr Ola Olukoyede ordered the immediate arrest of two officers allegedly involved in the manhandling of a female staff member of Regional Hotel, Ojo, Lagos.

The officers were identified in the viral video assaulting the hotel staff during the early morning operation.

According to the statement, Olukoyede has mandated a detailed investigation into the operation at the hotel and assured that any officers found guilty of misconduct would face appropriate disciplinary measures.

“The EFCC is committed to conducting its duties professionally and with utmost respect for the rule of law,” Olukoyede stated.

The operation resulted in the apprehension of a significant number of suspects who are currently being profiled.

The EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, emphasised the commission’s dedication to upholding ethical standards and ensuring justice is served.
