IPMAN To Continue Strike As Petrol Prices Hit N2,000/Litre In Adamawa

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) Adamawa/Taraba chapter has decided to continue its strike despite petrol selling for N2,000 per litre.

Alhaji Dahiru Buba, the IPMAN Chairman, announced this in a Tuesday interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola.

He stated that the strike was due to the frequent harassment of members and illegal seizures of their petrol tankers by Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) officers.

According to Buba, customs officers have left their border posts and are now targeting legitimate businesses in cities and local areas. This has caused financial losses, artificial scarcity, and higher petrol prices. Buba stated that the strike would continue until the NCS stopped these activities.

NAN reported that the strike and the high petrol prices have led to fewer vehicles on the roads.

A resident, Abubakar Muhammed, said that workers and commuters struggled to find transport to their destinations due to the sharp rise in fares, which have increased from N300 to N700 per trip.

The news agency said that most fuel stations in Yola are closed, and motorists rely on the black market for petrol.
