Iyanu, Animated Superhero Series Reveals All-Nigerian Voice Cast

Iyanu“, the upcoming animated superhero series, will feature an all-Nigerian voice cast, marking a significant step in representing Nigerian culture and mythology.

Serah Johnson, renowned for her voiceover work in animation and audiobooks, leads the cast as Iyanu, joined by a mix of promising newcomers and seasoned actors. Okey Jude, known for his roles in “Hotel Labamba” and “The Governor’s Daughter,” brings life to the character of Biyi, Iyanu’s adventurous friend. In contrast, Samuel Kugbiyi, known for his work in the musical drama “Tafiya Lafiya: The Journey,” voices the bookish friend Toye. Adesua Etomi-Wellington, an African Movie Academy Awards winner, portrays Olori, with Blossom Chukwujekwu as Kanfo, Stella Damasus as Sewa, Shaffy Bello as Emi, and Ike Ononye as Elder Alapani.

“Iyanu” follows the story of a young girl named Iyanu, who discovers her divine powers and collaborates with Biyi and Toye to confront evil in the magical kingdom of Yorubaland. The series promises to blend Nigerian culture, music, and mythology, offering viewers a captivating adventure. Scheduled for release on Cartoon Network and Max in 2025, “Iyanu” has already secured a 26-episode, two-season order.
