A few days after Ken Omusi declared himself as the new acting chairman of the Labour Party in Edo State, his home was visited by thugs who threatened and harassed his family in his absence and vandalised properties within the compound.

A party member who pleaded anonymity disclosed that the thugs had visited the house on Saturday around 4 am. The member alleged that the  Edo Labour Party governorship candidate, Olumide Akpata, sent his thugs to attack Omusi in his home. However, Omusi was not around when the thugs came.

According to the source, the thugs came on Friday, around 4 pm, but did not meet Omusi there. So, they left after “threatening the family.”

“Around 4 am today, they came, thinking they would meet him… they didn’t see him. They now destroyed his house and his car that was parked outside his compound.

“Yesterday (Friday), they came with some people, some policemen from Abuja, to come and abduct the acting chairman.

“He got information about it and was advised to take cover, so he went into hiding,” the party member said.

In a video shared by the source, Omusi’s wife was heard describing what transpired Saturday morning, although it does not show her face in the video.

She mentioned that the thugs first visited them on Friday, threatening them with guns and harassing her mum.

“We don’t know what is going on,” she said. “We are just begging the state government to please come to our aid.”
