Weeks earlier, Investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo unravelled a web of illegalities within Nigerian Customs, shedding light on criminal activities involving critical players like IBD Dende and others in smuggling.

Despite presenting evidence, government agencies have responded with a resounding silence, prompting concerns about accountability and transparency.

For weeks, Soyombo’s relentless pursuit of the truth exposed the network of corruption plaguing Nigerian Customs.

His investigations have implicated individuals like IBD Dende, a master smuggler, and raised questions about systemic failures within the agency.

However, there has been little or no response from relevant authorities. The Nigerian Customs, the Police, the Senate, NAFDAC, DSS, EFCC, and influencers have all maintained a deafening silence in the face of damning allegations.

Amidst these allegations, Nigerian entertainer Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, posted on her X page today, publicly celebrating her encounter with IBD Dende.

In a post on X, she expressed excitement about meeting him, seemingly oblivious to the gravity of the allegations surrounding him.

Like Soyombo, influencers like Teni are essential in holding government and those in places of influence accountable rather than celebrating them.

Teni’s actions have sparked different reactions from Nigerians, bringing to the fore the role influencers play in holding the government accountable.
