Kogi Received N413bn Under Yahaya Bello’s Administration– BudgIT

Recent data by BudgIT has shown that the federal allocations Kogi State received under former governor, Yahaya Bello’s administration was a total of N413.28bn (from 2016-2023).

This data which was released on Thursday on X comes amid the allegations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that the former governor laundered and misappropriated funds up to N80.2bn.

The EFCC chief, Ola Olukoyede, also alleged that Bello withdrew $720,000 from the state’s account to pay his children’s school fees in advance just before he vacated office on January 27, 2024.

As the BudgIT data shows, the highest Bello’s administration received in a year was N73.12bn, in 2023, which was his last year in office. The year before, the state was allocated the sum of N58.44bn.

The lowest allocation Kogi received from the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) was N31.98bn.
