Renowned Nigerian singer David Adedeji Adeleke, famously known as Davido, has acknowledged Grammy-winning Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo for paving the way for a new generation of African artists, including himself, to gain global recognition. Praising the iconic singer for her longstanding representation of the continent on the global stage, Davido expressed his admiration for Kidjo’s ability to captivate diverse audiences worldwide.
In a recent interview with CNN’s Inside Africa, Davido expressed his excitement over collaborating with the legendary musician, revealing his longstanding desire to work with her. Referring to Kidjo affectionately as “Mama Africa,” Davido highlighted her versatility and ability to perform for various audiences across the globe.
“She can perform anywhere and for different crowds. And she has represented us so well, you know, on the global scene. She opened doors for new artists like myself,” Davido remarked.
Davido’s collaboration with Angelique Kidjo and The Cavemen on the track ‘Na Money,’ featured on his Grammy-nominated album, ‘Timeless,’ further solidified the bond between established and emerging African artists, showcasing the continent’s rich musical tapestry on a global scale.
