The Oyo State Government has issued a seven-day ultimatum to those occupying illegally erected kiosks, containers, and shanties, and conducting business operations along roadsides.
Failure to comply with the directives it said could result in legal consequences.
Abdulmojeed Mogbojuola, the state Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, delivered this ultimatum on Tuesday during his inspection visit to the Ojoo community in the Akinyele Local Government Area.
He stated that such activities have been causing public health nuisance and obstructing the free flow of traffic which according to him, violates the Environmental Sanitation Regulation of 2013.
“Illegal operations should be halted, especially, on the roadsides and drainages occupied by the individuals. And you must vacate this place in seven days,” he said.
He urged business owners to relocate to designated markets in the vicinity, stating that this measure would help reduce road accidents and prevent loss of lives and properties.
