Nigerian entertainment industry has been plunged into mourning with the sudden passing of Nollywood actors, Quadri Oyebanji, popularly known as Sisi Quadri yesterday, and John Okafor, famously known as Mr Ibu, today.
The news of Sisi Quadri’s demise came as a shock to many, especially as he had recently received approval for a scheduled trip to the United States for a performance.
Show promoter Olawale B of Fathia Entertainment confirmed the heartbreaking news on social media, expressing his sorrow over the loss. “It is with great sadness that I have learned of the passing of Nollywood actor, Sisi Quadri.”
His US visa was already approved,” Olawale B stated in an Instagram post.
Sisi Quadri, aged 44, passed away on Friday.
The grief within the Nollywood community is deepened with the news of Mr Ibu’s passing less than 24 hours after Sisi Quadri’s demise.
John Okafor, known for his comedic roles, had succumbed to the complications of surgeries that ultimately led to the amputation of his leg.
Mr Ibu’s health struggles had been a subject of concern in recent years, with rumors circulating about his absence from the limelight and reports of being bedridden.
In 2019, he had made startling allegations of poisoning, claiming that his success had provoked envy among his kinsmen. He even alleged being poisoned for the third time in May 2022, shedding light on the sinister forces at play in his life.
Mr Ibu, aged 66, passed away today.
