Residents of Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, are on the streets this morning to decry the escalating prices of food items and the overall state of the economy.

Protesters currently around  Mokola, brandishing placards emblazoned with poignant messages such as ‘End food hike and inflation,’ ‘We are starving,’ and ‘Tinubu, don’t forget your promises,’ among other slogans, reflecting the frustrations of the populace.

Accompanied by chants, the demonstrators voiced their discontent, seeking redress for the economic challenges that have burdened their daily lives.

The presence of armed security officers could be observed as authorities monitor the protest to ensure it remains peaceful.

The surge in food prices and the broader economic downturn have significantly impacted the livelihoods of many residents, prompting them to take to the streets in a bid to draw attention to their plight.
