Federal Ministry of Works Announces 24-Hour Closure for Bridge Repairs

Federal Ministry of Works has declared a temporary 24-hour closure, effective from midnight on Sunday, February 18th, until midnight on Monday, February 19th.

Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works for Lagos State, affirmed that this measure aims to facilitate seamless repairs and ensure the structural integrity of the bridge.

Addressing the concerns of commuters, Mrs. Kesha reassured motorists traveling out of the Island and heading towards Oworonshoki that full access to the bridge would be maintained throughout the closure period.

However, she urged all motorists to heed traffic regulations and utilize alternative routes suggested by the authorities.

In a statement issued yesterday night, Mrs. Kesha emphasized, “The temporary closure of the Iyana Oworonshoki-Adeniji Adele bound traffic is necessary to enable effective repairs on an important section of the bridge.”

She further urged motorists to plan their journeys accordingly and comply with traffic directives during this period.

To minimize inconvenience, alternative routes have been provided by the authorities. These routes include options such as Ojota-Ikorodu Road-Funsho Williams Avenue-Eko Bridge-Apogbon-CMS, Ojota-Ikorodu Road-Jibowu-Yaba-Oyingbo-Iddo-Carter bridge-CMS, and Gbagada-Anthony-Ikorodu Road-Funsho Williams-Eko bridge-Apogbon-CMS.

“We urge motorists to utilize alternative routes, obey traffic regulatory officers, and exhibit patience as the government continues repairs on this vital infrastructure,” Mrs. Kesha reiterated.
