The Department of State Services (DSS) has refuted claims of having Miyetti Allah’s President, Bello Bodejo, in its custody. The DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, conveyed this information through a WhatsApp message to journalists on Tuesday.

“Bello Bodejo is not with the DSS,” Afunanya’s message read in response to enquiries on Bodejo’s arrest.

Earlier, there were reports that the association’s president was allegedly apprehended by the DSS for establishing an unregistered nomad vigilante group to assist in combating the security challenges in Nasarawa State.

According to the reports, the arrest took place on Tuesday, 23, January 2024 at the Miyetti Allah’s head office located at Tundun Maliya Cattle Market, Tundun-Wada, in the Karu Local Government Area of the state.

The DSS operatives, accompanied by Nigerian Army soldiers, reportedly conducted a raid on the Miyetti Allah head office near Goshen Church around 3:40 pm on Tuesday. Although, the Nigerian Army’s spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, said he could not confirm Bodejo’s arrest by soldiers of the Nigerian Army.

While both agencies refuted claims of having Bodejo in custody, Saleh Al-Hassan, the National Secretary of the association, earlier confirmed the arrest of the association’s President more.
