214

During the first night of the 75th Primetime Creative Arts Emmys at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, “The Last of Us” stole the spotlight, clinching eight awards. This dystopian drama, depicting a world ravaged by disease, secured victories in categories such as visual effects, makeup, title design, sound editing, and guest performances by Nick Offerman and Storm Reid. While runners-up like “The White Lotus,” “The Bear,” and “Wednesday” amassed fewer awards, “Beef” took home three, and shows like “Daisy Jones & the Six,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Ted Lasso,” and “Weird: The Al Yankovic” story earned two each.

Ed Sheeran added an Emmy to his collection, winning for composing “A Beautiful Game.” HBO Max led with 14 wins, followed by Netflix with 10 and Prime Video with six. The second Creative Arts show is set for Sunday, Jan. 7, leading up to the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards airing live on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024. The ceremonies, originally scheduled for 2023, were delayed due to the actors’ and writers’ strike.

Despite taking place in 2024, the awards honour television achievements from June 2022 through May 2023. The edited version of the two evenings will air on January 13 on FXX. The awards span various categories, recognizing outstanding achievements in casting, cinematography, costumes, makeup, hairstyling, music, editing, production design, visual effects, and more.
