“I came to the United States to pursue my dreams and build up my career as a recognized artist,” Ahaghotu told Guinness World Records before embarking on his record attempt. “Breaking the record will boost my recognition as an artist both in my school and the world at large.”

Nigerian art student Chancellor Ahaghotu has made history by breaking the decade-old record for the longest painting marathon, as confirmed by Guinness World Records. The sophomore at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, painted continuously for an impressive 100 hours, surpassing the previous record of 60 hours set in 2013.

Ahaghotu’s remarkable achievement included creating 106 pieces depicting various subjects like celebrities, food items, plants, and animals. The diverse artworks reflected his different moods during the marathon. Despite facing fatigue around the 88-hour mark, Ahaghotu remained committed to reaching his target.

“One thing I love about the paintings I created is that they were representing my different moods and how I was feeling when I created them,” Ahaghotu explained.

He meticulously planned the record attempt, preparing 100 canvases with sketches, but completed them all ahead of schedule. The accomplishment marks a significant personal achievement for Ahaghotu, contributing to his recognition as an artist and bringing pride to his school and country.
