SuperSport’s inability to secure the broadcasting rights for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 has led to Multichoice, the parent company of DStv, confirming the absence of the highly anticipated tournament on its platform.

Scheduled to take place from January 13th to February 11th, 2024, AFCON 2023 will not be showcased on DStv due to the failure of SuperSport, the leading sports broadcasting network, to secure the rights for this prestigious event.

Multichoice, however, has revealed alternative plans for AFCON 2024. Meanwhile, AFCON 2023 remains inaccessible through its platform.

However, they noted that the games will be accessible through partner broadcast stations on Free-to-Air (FTA) channels, offering football fans the opportunity to witness the thrilling matches of the tournament.

The absence of AFCON 2023 on DStv marks a departure from the usual comprehensive sports coverage provided by the network, leaving subscribers disappointed and eager for alternative viewing options.

This announcement has sparked both disappointment and anticipation among football enthusiasts, with many expressing their hopes for a swift resolution to the broadcasting rights issue, allowing them to enjoy the football spectacle that AFCON brings.
