Manchester United woes continue with 2-0 defeat to West Ham

Manchester United’s tumultuous season took another downward turn as they suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of West Ham United.

The Red Devils, under the management of Erik ten Hag, have been grappling with a series of setbacks, winning just one out of their last five top-flight encounters, which was a 2-1 win against Chelsea.

Today’s match witnessed a lacklustre performance from United, with West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen capitalizing on an opportunity in the 72nd minute after Lucas Paqueta’s setup, further denting United’s hopes.

Mohammed Kudus compounded their misery by exploiting a defensive error to secure West Ham’s second goal.

This loss saw Manchester United move down to eighth place in the Premier League standings, while West Ham climbed into sixth position, leapfrogging the struggling Red Devils.

The upcoming fixtures for Manchester United do not promise respite either, with an unexpected challenge against Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

Bad Records? 

Despite holding Liverpool to a draw in their previous outing, Manchester United’s optimism was short-lived, overshadowed by a lackluster display against West Ham, having already suffered 13 defeats across all competitions this season—a stark contrast to their previous campaign’s form.

The scoring drought is another pressing concern for Manchester United, failing to find the net in their last four matches, a plight they haven’t experienced since Alex Ferguson’s era in November 1992.

Individual struggles also persist, notably with Rasmus Hojlund yet to register a Premier League goal and Antony yet to contribute either a goal or an assist in 19 appearances this season.

The Red Devils continue to navigate through this period, and fans and supporters of the club continue to wait with bated breath to see if they can reverse their fortunes and resurrect their season from this tumultuous state.
