Cole Palmer: From City’s talent to Chelsea’s Man

1.5k

Cole Palmer’s move from Manchester City to Chelsea has been a significant yet discreet signing for the Blues this season.

Chelsea secured Palmer’s signature on the last day of the summer transfer window, keeping the deal under wraps during negotiations, even restricting discussions about him at the Cobham training ground.

Despite initial fears about City refusing the deal, the relationship between Chelsea’s co-sporting directors and Manchester City facilitated the transfer.

Talks about Palmer arose during negotiations for Mateo Kovacic’s move to City in June, eventually leading to Palmer joining Chelsea.

Deployable as a No. 10, advanced eight, or false nine, Palmer’s adaptability and tendency to drift in from the right wing, similar to other top players, have drawn attention.

His recent performance against Manchester City, when he scored at the last minute to secure a draw for the Blues, was another milestone display.

Yet again, in yesterday’s match against Manchester United, he scored a composed goal and has received praise from former Chelsea striker Hasselbaink, who admired Palmer’s control and precision.

Although not his standout game, Palmer’s goal marked his fifth in 14 appearances for Chelsea, showcasing his impact.

His successful move to Chelsea has seen him play more in the Premier League than during his time at Manchester City.

Palmer’s four goals in eight league games have validated his place in the starting lineup. His call-up to the England squad signifies that Palmer’s switch to Chelsea has been worthwhile.
