Nigerian music star Davido has released the tracklist for his 5ive album and is set to release the new album on April 18. Still, the spotlight has taken a twist as fellow artist Dammy Krane has announced a project with the same title and release date.

Davido’s 5ive album features an impressive mix of local and international stars, including Omah Lay, Victony, Chike, OdumoduBlvck, Chris Brown, Becky G, Victoria Monet and South African star Musa Keys.

In a teaser video posted online, Davido captioned the post on his Instagram,

Legacy is not what you leave behind, but what you breathe into the future. 72 hours away. Thank you for the love and support, announcing that the release was in a few days.

Recently, Davido mentioned why he named his new album “5ive”. He emphasised that there is no unique reason but that this album would be his fifth album and felt it was best to name it “5ive”.

In the mid-2010s, Dammy Krane made waves with his hit song Amin. He and Davido were once friends, but their relationship went south after personal and professional disagreements.

Dammy Krane’s move might raise eyebrows, but it doesn’t shock fans who remember his fallout with Davido, especially after he claimed Davido never paid him royalties from their past collaboration and accused Davido of having a hand in the death of one of his associates.

Meanwhile, Dammy Krane’s album announcement has stirred debate, with many fans wondering if the identical title and timing are a jab at Davido or simply a marketing strategy. The singer has not commented on the speculation.

With both albums dropping in a matter of days, April 18 promises to be an interesting day in Nigerian music. Whether it’s a clash or coincidence, one thing is clear: fans are ready, playlists are waiting, and the charts will tell the real story.
