According to reports, Police in Nairobi arrested and assaulted paramedics on Tuesday during live coverage on CNN. The paramedics, who had identified themselves, were apprehended amidst ongoing protests against the controversial Finance Bill 2024.

The incident occurred as demonstrators took to the streets to voice their discontent with the proposed legislation, which critics argue will lead to increased taxes and a higher cost of living.

The Finance Bill 2024 has been a source of widespread outrage among Kenyans, who fear the economic burden it may impose on already struggling households.

According to reports, the paramedics were providing medical assistance to injured protesters when the police moved in.

Despite identifying themselves and their purpose, the medical personnel were forcibly taken into custody. Footage aired by CNN showed officers beating some of the paramedics.
